BACKGROUND

Children of Destiny Orphanage (DBA CHILDREN OF BETHESDA MINISTRIES, LTD) is a fully registered Community-Based Non-Government Organization, NGO (No. 80020001692309), founded in 2019.

The purpose of Children of Destiny Orphanage was envisioned by God, implemented through Pr. Emmanuel Wambi. God’s purpose has called Pr. Wambi to live sacrificially for the salvation and safety of the children and community. It is his urgent conviction that every child be enabled to reach their God given potential.

Our current location is home to 80 orphans and supports 500 children who walk to our location for free education and meal. Children of Destiny Orphanage also engages regularly in community outreach to give anything we can offer to those around them. The need is great. We strive to be the light for others.

Our life work is to identify the homeless, destitute, vulnerable and orphaned children, and care for their psychological, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Mission

To minister love to hurting children; to restore hope, innocence, and support to the vulnerable and marginalized children and communities of Uganda.

Vision

To grow our community in love and support so all children may grow to their God given potential and go on to live self-sustainable lives, which will enable them to continue to spread the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will overcome poverty and the strongholds in the land.

Motto

The way up, is down.

Who are we?

The children who you help save come from sleeping on concrete beds or rancid trash piles on the streets; from huffing glue and other substances to attempt to numb the cold, hunger, pain, and shame; prostituting themselves for basic food and shelter; from sex trafficking because they were sold into bondage as young as 4 and 5 years old; from abuse and brutality by sexual predators and local gangs; rape by HIV/AIDS infected men who believe that sex with a child can cure disease; recruitment from thievery, smuggling, and dealing drugs; from abduction to serve as child soldiers or sex slaves to soldiers; from exploitation as child laborers or slaves in shops, markets, and transportation; from being the sacrifice in occult and witchcraft rituals.

Though our government’s effort to enable child access to education through Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE), many children cannot afford the associated cost of uniforms, books, pencils, and food. What resources many children in Uganda can obtain are used for life sustaining necessities.

We do not wish to challenge government programs, but to supplement the government’s efforts in helping those in need. We simply aim to give all children access to relevance in life, and a fighting chance to succeed with an education, balanced diet, healthcare, and usable skills.

Understand, the children who are lucky enough to be in school walk up to 6 or more miles a day to the nearest school to attain access to a free education and a meal. Many of these children do not have access to shoes and walk with painfully infected bare feet caused by Jiggers.

How to support us.

We sincerely THANK YOU for anything you choose to give. It is through your generosity that we are able to implement the impact in their lives.
